ESA approves aid for Arbacore production plant

(Oslo, 28 November 2016) The EFTA Surveillance Authority (ESA) today approved Enova’s decision to grant NOK 138 million (approx. EUR 15.2 million) to Arba Follum AS.

“We are very pleased that the ESA has approved Enova’s NOK 138 million grant to the Arbacore production plant at Follum. Together with our partners, we can now continue the work to realize the production plant at Follum”, says CEO of Arbaflame, Håkon Knappskog.

Arbaflame has patented a unique technology for production of Arbacore, an advanced wood pellet, which can replace regular coal in coal-fired power plants. Thus, the cost and process of transitioning from traditional fossil coal to Arbacore at coal-fired power plants is minimal.

The planned facility at Follum will have a production capacity of up to 200,000 tonnes per year, which will contribute to a 400,000 tonne reduction in CO2-emissions.
